What should I wear with a black strapless dress?

I've a college ball next month and I have a black strapless dress that sits just above the knee. I was thinking of wearing a purple belt under the bust and purple heels. I need to wear a shrug or a wrap but i'm not sure what colour?

i wore something similar for my 21st birthday party, my dress was a black satin pencil boob tube dress, i was a black belt around it with a silver dimonte buckle bit on the front and i wore black satin peep toe stilletoes with the silver diamontes on to match the dress, i also carried a black satin clutch bag.

If you wear purple shoes and belt then wear a black shrug, to much of the same colour accesories will look over the top
