First Birthday Ideas? What'd you do?

My daughter is turning a year old Oct. 27. I have a little over 3 months, but I want to handmake a lot of the stuff like the invitations and tutu.. I originally wanted to do brown and light pink polka dots, but I cannot find anything in my local craft stores like ac moore, hobby lobby or joann's.. not even scrapbook stores have the paper I am wanting to make the invitations with.
