Sequins Dress

How can I get tape off my sequin dress?

I stuck stars on it with double-sided tape and now the tape won't come off! It's really stuck to the fabric, which is sort of like net/mesh covered in sequins. Any ideas of what will get the tape off? It's kind of embedded, is there anything that will break down the glue and make it come off? Any help is much appreciated.

If the dress is Dry Clean Only...ask your dry cleaner if they can remove the tape residue.

If the dress is machine or hand washable, you can remove the residue with cooking oil. Pour a little cooking oil on the tape residue. Let that sit for about 20 minutes. Then roll the residue off with your finger and fingernail.

After this treatment, remove the cooking oil with dishwashing liquid. Rub dishwashing liquid into the oil . Let that sit for about 20 minutes. Then launder or hand wash as usual.

It doesn't matter which brand of dishwashing liquid you use. Most people recommend Dawn, but I've found that others work just as well...Joy, Palmolive, Ajax, even some store brands, like Kirkland.

Dishwashing liquid is formulated to remove oil. Laundry detergent is not. The dishwashing liquid will remove the oil.
